RAL 7016. If you have looked at a new front door in the last five years you have looked at this colour, and there is a good reason it keeps winning: it matches the grey window frames on most of the country's housing stock exactly.

Worth knowing
Grey aluminium and grey foiled uPVC windows became the default specification on new builds and replacement windows in the early 2010s, and almost all of them are RAL 7016. A front door in the same reference is the only one that will match rather than nearly match, and nearly matching is worse than contrasting.
It also happens to be a genuinely good colour: dark enough to look deliberate, neutral enough not to date, and it hides road film far better than white or cream.
Brushed stainless or satin chrome furniture, every time. Polished chrome is too bright against it and gold looks wrong unless the rest of the elevation supports it. Black furniture works on cottage designs but can look muddy on a smooth modern face because the contrast is too low.
For glass, sandblasted or obscure. Clear glass on an anthracite door tends to read as a dark hole from the street, which undoes the whole look.
Honestly, it is very common, and if you want your door to be the thing people remember about the house then Peacock Blue, Deep Merlot or Tangerine will do that and anthracite will not.
But common is not the same as wrong. Anthracite is the default because it works on almost every elevation, and a door you still like in fifteen years is worth more than a door that was interesting for two.
